During a famine, a five-year-old girl named Mia is abandoned at the foot of Apricot Mountain by her parents, who value sons over daughters. She is rescued by a limping hunter, Victor Chase, and his ailing wife. When the wife falls gravely ill and requires a millennium-old ginseng root to survive, Mia uses her unique ability to communicate with animals to guide her adoptive father into the mountains to find the cure. Her gift later helps her resolve further crises for both her new family and the village, ultimately leading them to a life of stability and prosperity.
