Charles Bennett, a genius cardiac surgeon, and Hazel Monroe, a resident trainee, enter a secret marriage arranged by their elders. The aloof Charles is gradually touched by Hazel's lively personality, and his life becomes vibrant. When a romantic rival appears, Charles reveals his jealousy after drinking, only to learn that Hazel has long loved him.
