"Winifred Jefferson, the only daughter of the Duke Protector of the Realm, loved Jasper Shaw very much - he was a rising star of the Marquis of Tranquil Reach. She married him willingly, but he was always cold to her. Jasper's heart belonged to his childhood sweetheart, Magnolia Summers. He even disliked the son he had with Winifred, Connor.
